About us

Gojo Paradiso Homes started as a simple gaijin house, a home a way from home for foreigners here in the lovely area of Central Kyoto.

At the beginning we slept in a Ryokan (Japanese inn) in this quiet neighborhood, using the Sento (public bath like onsen but in the city), and now….even with coffee shops, restaurants, Ryokans, backpackers this area is still as quiet as the Khaosan Road in Bangkok 20 years ago.

As for us: we manage our 7 houses, do what we love, stay among travelers, and feel the freedom of travel at home. Thank you all for the letters of appreciation that help to keep us motivated. I hope and believe you all will continue to get the most out of us; it is a privilege to have the means to be generous and helpful to others.

As travelers for the past 20 years, we try to give others what we think makes the difference when traveling abroad: a HOME rather than a guest house, comfort above formality, freedom without chaos, expect nothing and get everything; Japanese style.

We tried to combine it with the Japanese mentality, respect others, consideration, patience. The fact that we have Kyoto machiya house (Kyoto old style traditional wood houses) is helping to get the feeling of real Japan, (according to your great comments) make your staying here to an unforgettable journey.

Enjoy GojoParadiso, it’s your home to come to & come back too!
